One unique Festival

This year Flute Theatre will be ten years old. Over the last decade we have travelled the world, performing with autistic communities in: Peru, Spain, US, Romania and with Ukrainian Refugees in Bulgaria.

To celebrate our tenth birthday we are inviting our international communities of autistic people and those displaced by war to join us at the Riverside Studios in London in August 2024 for Flute Theatre’s first international festival. We will also present the UK premiere of our adaptation of The Tempest, first performed at Craiova Shakespeare Festival in 2023.

Our community of autistic individuals from west London (whom we have worked with since 2018) will host the event with us; inviting autists and their families from across the world to come to Riverside Studios where we will all perform our Shakespeare productions together.

This will be the first international festival of its kind, with audiences who are usually marginalized by autism being invited to travel to London to take part in collaborative Shakespeare productions performing with our multi-lingual, international artists . We will adapt the language of the performances to the needs of the participants, with more than one language being spoken in any one performance if needs be.

We will create an exhibition of photographs and films from the last ten years of Flute Theatre with an emphasis on the children and families who have grown up with us since 2018.
